David's Diary

Late at night again after another long day doing battle with Songbook #1. A painful experience. There are few places that it doesn't reach. Staring down the barrel of your own inadequacies – musical, linguistic, vocal incompetence. At times, trying to find the answer to the question « what is a good song ? ». When there is a choice between the musically agile/interesting and the « direct from the heart », which as more appeal. What is it about music that makes us listen?

Yes, another ordinary day in the studio.

The bells has now been deemed « acceptable », and we have moved on to « She puts it right in a letter », which may, or may not, make the grade.  One of the best lyrics and melodies I have ever written, and yet…..

We shall see.
